… for someone without a job, I have been busy the past week (as the lack of posts can attest to). Here is a rundown just to keep you updated with what I have been up to. For those that don’t care in the least, check my archive for something more interesting.
Sunday (August 13th): Church and then the church picnic at Lake Padden. It was a fun time to relax and meet a few new people… and show off my amazing bocce ball skills.
Monday (14th): Helped my friend Leann and her roomies pack stuff into the car, A-Team van (it rocked), and a big truck (that came with a heap of crappy old wood with rusty nails, nice) so they were ready to move.
Tuesday (15th): Leann’s move actually took place. This actually went pretty quick so I was glad for that. After that my sister, Erin, (who was in town) drove down to Seattle and met up with Dan and Stacey for dinner and then Chad, Tammy, and Bekah to catch Late Tuesday (doing solo sets) at Chop Suey. The show was a benefit for Uganda’s Invisible Children. I really enjoyed it. I think I prefer the harmonies when the three are together, but it was also nice to hear their own special flavor. Plus Gabe Archer (of The Pale Pacific) was there, always a bonus. Unfortunately, stupid me, I left my camera in the car so didn’t get any pics. Sorry!
Wednesday (16th): Erin and I drove back up north to Sumas to see cousin Becky. Then I headed over to Lynden to help the Young Life BBQ booth at the Northwest Washington Fair (Leann works for Young Life and needed some help). I didn’t get to see much of the fair (I had never been to this one), but it seemed pretty fun. I had a good time helping the kids out but my feet were REALLY tired after standing for so long.
Thursday (17th): Since Erin was in town we hung out together in memory of dad. Went to two different parks, ate at Boomer’s Drive-In, had doughnuts, watched Gilmore Girls (yeah, yeah, yeah), Animaniacs, and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Pretty relaxing day, but good.
Friday (18th): Picked Erin up and drove north to Sumas to pick Becky up and crossed the border to visit the Colossus in Langley, BC. I had never been to that theater before. While I still prefer Seattle’s Cinerama for the size of the screen, I was really impressed by the Colossus. For one, they have lots of food (like Burger King and Pizza Hut) that you can take into the theaters. And two, the theaters have pretty good size screens, all 19 of them, PLUS an IMAX! Very cool. We saw Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. It was still excellent. “I trade spice for… mmm… delicious long pork.” Gross.
Saturday (19th): Erin is ready to head home so we met mom down in Seattle to hang out for the day in memory of dad. We had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory, it was quite delicious. We walked around downtown for a bit then went up to the Seattle Center (a few Space Needle pics) before heading to the movie theater to see Lady in the Water. I really liked the movie (I will probably write a brief review up in the next few days). Go see it while it is still around (it is vanishing quickly, not sure why though)! And now I am back up in Bellingham.
Busy week, but lots of fun. I imagine this week will be much more boring… although hopefully I will get a freaking job!

Matt, this was not boring. I enjoyed reading about your week.
Thanks Becky! You should have come to the show last Tuesday!
